Spotlight on: Fit Body Boot Camp

A physician says we're causing early destruction of our brains with the typical American diet. And that he says the science backs him up.

I Gained So Much Weight I did not Recognize Myself


I'd been broken up with my on-and-off boyfriend of five years for about 3 months after i decided to meet him for dinner. After i got there, I texted him to state I was waiting outside, and when I saw him I started waving like a doofus. He looked right past me. It took me one minute to understand he didn't recognize me.

''I Was Obsessed With Everything I Put in My Mouth''

What was the turning point that prompted you to lose weight?

What's what you eat look like? My morning meal is either scrambled eggs or perhaps a slice of multigrain toast with peanut butter. Lunch is usually a salad or a tuna sandwich. For dinner I've fish and some veggies. My snack is half a mug of popcorn.

What's your preferred healthy snack and meal? Bananas and peanut butter are my favorite! I also enjoy hummus and baby carrots.

No need to splurge since your putting on weight is only temporary. Stock up on several pieces that may help you feel better about the way you look. Remember, feeling better can help you make smarter food choices.

Don't over-exercise

Don't start too fast and steady and be consistent. Set a realistic objective of how often each week you will exercise. Also, over-exercising can result in overeating, which can actually lead you to gain more weight.

Do not attempt a dietary fads

The problem with diets is they're not meant to be followed for a long period of your time. Making a healthy lifestyle change could keep the load off long-term.

Don't ignore your hunger cues

By learning to focus on your hunger cues and listening to your body, you will stop yourself from overeating. You should eat when you're slightly hungry and stop eating when you're slightly satisfied.
