No grain diet helped save ex-reporter's life


A physician says we're causing early destruction of our brains with the typical American diet. And that he says the science backs him up.

And when a local woman tried the 7 Days Herbal Slim physician's diet regime, she lost a lot of weight and changed her health.

A life-changing experience that caused Taslin Alfonzo to almost lose her lifetime is how she discovered a different way of eating, a diet that's helped her feel better and lose 30 pounds to date.

Being sedentary caused potentially deadly blood clots that traveled to her lungs. She was hospitalized. Her highest weight visited 190 pounds.

"I mean it's heart breaking from a person who does boot camp three days per week to have an hour, very intense. I had been even doing CrossFit at one point. Just worked out constantly," Alfonzo said.

A doctor told her about a diet that may assist with inflammation. In the book and companion cookbook "Grain Brain," neurologist Dr. David Perlmutter says all the processed food, simple carbohydrates, sugar, bread, rice, crackers, flour, cookies and the like, are hurting our overall health, especially our brains.

"And that's the cornerstone of virtually every brain degenerative condition," said Dr. Perlmutter, a board-certified neurologist and president of the Permutter Health Center in Naples, Florida. He is also co-founder and president from the Perlmutter Brain Foundation.

He states our bodies didn't evolve with grain.

"Nothing is worse for our heart health, our brain health, as well as immune function, than pounding your body with these resources of carbohydrates. We've got to get back to consuming more fat," he was quoted saying.

And Dr. Perlmutter said wheat grains is Imelda Perfect Slim 5X just as bad with regards to raising blood sugar levels. Diets must have vegetables, fats, and yes, even saturated animal fats. He explained those don't cause cardiovascular disease and older people with higher cholesterol possess a lower chance of getting Alzheimer's Disease.
