Dr Oz: Fibroid surgery morcellation spurs cancer; Chris Powell weight loss tips


Dr. Mehmet Oz examined whether hysterectomies to remove uterine fibroids can spread cancer, and discussed fitness tips with "Extreme Weight Loss" star Chris Powell around the Sept. 24 episode from the Dr. Oz Show.

What is the biggest difference from last year's team (2-7) compared to this season? It was the work within the offseason. Everybody labored in the weight room. Everybody is playing to win games. We do not have any selfish guys who're playing for stats this year and we are all friends.

What are your plans for the coming year? I'm either likely to join the Army or Navy. I wish to serve our country and find out the world.

Conway set to approve property tax hike


Conway leaders will require their final vote on the proposed tax increase Monday night.

Conway leaders' decision to raise taxes comes at the same time the town is committing $500,000 to Coastal Carolina University. The town will pay $100,000 each year for 5 years for naming rights to a boardwalk at the university's new baseball stadium.

When asked about spending half a million dollars at any given time when the city is raising taxes to shore up its budget, Lawson pointed to the impact Coastal has on Conway.

San Francisco-based seed fund investment firm Rock Health recently held Rock Health Rounds, a celebration for practicing physicians to preview some of its healthcare startups. They have an in-person program, but it was $3,500! By having an in-person visit, as a working parent, I didn't know how I had been likely to [accommodate] that.

I just remarked that we had this excellent Stanford program that actually works. Why not take this right into a mobile program, having a gamified mobile app and remote coaching. Lots of studies have indicated that for weight control, remote coaching via text, Skype and phone calls could be as effective as in-person visits, and much more accessible. Plus, kids love their smart phones--.why don't you engage them in the solution?

MindStream Academy to move from Hilton Head location

MindStream Academy will leave its Hilton Head Island location by June 30 to create way for a future University of South Carolina Beaufort campus, town officials said Tuesday.

Bowing to Brooklyn CB 3, DOT Puts Bed Stuy Slow Zone on Ice

Bedford Stuyvesant will not be getting 20 mph streets in the end.
