CHEVY CHASE SUDDEN 40 LB WEIGHT LOSS!

Funnyman Chevy Chase has dropped greater than 40 pounds in only months - and medical professionals warn maybe it's a diet for disaster!

The 71-year-old "Saturday Night Live" legend had ballooned to greater than 300 pounds and it was reportedly rushed to the hospital with cardiac arrest symptoms just five months ago.

Experts say Chase's dramatic jimpness beauty weight reduction - as observed in these exclusive photos obtained through the National ENQUIRER - could be due to liposuction, lap band surgery or extreme dieting, and may kill him!

"Rapid weight reduction like this, particularly if it's unsupervised, can provide a significant shock towards the body," said Dr. Stuart Fischer, a professional in internal medicine, who has not dealt with the comedian.

The 6-foot-4 Chase - star of the classic comedy "Caddyshack" and the "National Lampoon's Vacation" films - suffered severe difficulty in breathing during the er episode in late April.

The actor was told he might be risking his life if he left a healthcare facility, but was permitted to leave following a number of tests.

Experts who have reviewed the images of a slimmed-down Chase - snapped Oct. 6 around the set of the upcoming big-screen "Vacation" reboot - speculate he may have taken one of many dangerous shortcuts to shed weight so quickly.

Cosmetic surgeon Dr. Yoel Shahar, that has not treated Chase, said: "Liposuction is a clear possibility but, at his age, is dangerous and carries several risks. Body fat may also reappear in other areas of the body."

Dr. Fischer agreed, adding: "It's a poor option for someone with his level of obesity and chance of heart ?disease."

Another alternative that Chase may have chosen is lap band surgery, experts say.

"It's a proven solution, but only if he's willing to change his eating habits too," pointed out Dr. Karin Hehenberger, a diabetes expert that has not dealt with Chase.

Drastic dieting is yet another option, however the experts warn it might have been the most dangerous route.

"Extreme dieting results in dehydration and malnutrition," cautioned Dr. Hehenberger.

"This leads to disturbances in electrolytes and heart rhythm problems, which brought him to the ER in the first place."

Chase's yo-yo dieting is really a occur, added Dr. Fischer.

"His weight swings and also the st nirvana metabolic havoc they cause can lead to diabetes, hypertension and cholesterol," he was quoted saying.

"He reaches risk for stroke, severe kidney disease along with a heart attack every minute of his life."
