Health advantages of parkrun stretch well past the physical

Running in the park can benefit help you slim down and gain better mental strength, says study.

Parkrun is an event that going in the UK and today it has caught on internationally.

more likely to stick to it."

"It's potentially extremely effective by doing so."

There is little doubt the runners - some of whom start off as overweight, unfit and achieving never contemplated covering this distance before - will reap

health gains later in life from being fitter and slimmer than people who don' regular exercise.

In Stevinson's most recent research, published last month within the International Journal of Behavioural Medicine, participants interviewed about

alterations in their health after becoming parkrunners said they'd seen improvements inside a selection of conditions from diabetes to asthma to chronic

pain.

But although some of those gains usually takes time for you to show through, researchers the mental health rewards could be almost immediate, as well as

long-lasting.

Mike Rogerson, a professional in exercise and sport psychology in the University of Essex who is also a member slim xtreme gold of parkrun's research board, has just

conducted a study of around 330 participants to determine the result the weekly session can have on psychological well-being.
